About this gharara suit
The gharara is the older of the two wide-legged silhouettes we stock, fitted through the thigh and then flaring sharply from a seam at the knee. That break is what distinguishes it from a sharara, and it is why a gharara tends to read as the more formal and more traditional of the two.
This one is worked in black georgette throughout. The kurta is straight cut with a full sleeve, and the embroidery is concentrated in a silver geometric yoke that runs from the neckline down into a pointed panel at the chest, echoed by a narrower band at the hem and at the sleeve cuffs. The gharara itself is plain to the knee, then breaks into dense silver floral embroidery across the flared section, which is where the outfit does most of its work visually.
The dupatta is matching black georgette, edged with a silver embroidered border along its length. It is a heavier drape than a net dupatta, which suits the weight of the rest of the outfit.
Fit and sizing
Available in AU sizes 6 to 20. Kurta length, sleeve length and body fit are all adjustable during your fitting. Gharara length matters more than on most garments, since the flare should break just above the floor, so bring the heels you intend to wear to your appointment. Most alterations are completed within 7 to 14 days.
Styling notes
Silver work asks for cool-toned jewellery. Diamond, platinum, white gold and pearl all sit naturally against it; heavy yellow gold does not. Because the kurta covers the neckline and chest, statement earrings and a maang tikka usually work better than a necklace, which will compete with the embroidered yoke. Keep footwear simple, since very little of it will show below the gharara.
