The base is a smooth sky blue silk, and the gold zari is arranged in vertical panels that run the full length of the skirt, each one a repeating motif set between narrow embroidered borders. At the hem the panels give way to a deep border built from three distinct bands of work, each with its own motif, stacked to create weight at the base of the skirt. That weight is what makes the A-line flare hang properly, helped by a canvas-supported hem.
