Indian bridal shopping becomes much easier when you break it into events and make decisions in the right order. Use this guide to plan outfits, fittings and accessories without leaving everything until the final weeks.

List every wedding event first

Write down the Mehndi, Haldi, Sangeet, ceremony, reception and any family functions you will attend. You do not need a completely different outfit for every event, but knowing the schedule prevents last-minute gaps.

Choose the most important outfit first

For many brides, the ceremony or main bridal lehenga is the starting point. Once the main outfit is chosen, you can make the other looks different in colour, silhouette or level of embellishment.

Plan fitting and alterations

Do not leave fitting until the final week. Discuss measurements, blouse or choli fit, skirt length and dupatta placement early. If you are ordering for a fixed wedding date, build extra time into the plan.

Coordinate jewellery and footwear

Jewellery should complement the neckline and embroidery. Footwear should be practical enough for the venue and long enough to work with the chosen skirt length. If possible, take the shoes to your fitting.
